Towns of Italy · Florence
A minivan takes you out of Florence to a base in the hills, where you ride a Vespa (or a Fiat Topolino e-car) behind the guides through Chianti villages to Greve. The ride is the point, and the wine comes after you hand back the keys, which is exactly how it should be.

Close to 2,000 reviews at 4.8, so the formula works. You meet by the Arno, ride a minivan for about 20 minutes to the base, and do a test lap on a small Piaggio Zip so the guides can check you're safe. Then you're off: about two hours on country roads through Strada in Chianti and Chiocchio to Greve, with a stop at a hilltop church for the photo everyone takes. Guests report three guides riding with the group: one at the front, one at the back, one floating.
Wine is the second half. Back at the base you ride no more, and a three-course lunch comes with wine, followed by a tasting of olive oil and a few wines. A 2023 guest named the place as Diadema, near Impruneta, which is outside the Chianti Classico zone even though your ride goes through its heart. One honeymooner summed it up well: this isn't a wine tour on Vespas, and it shouldn't be.
Read the small print before you book. You need a car driving licence (not a motorbike one), you must be 18 to drive, and you pick either EUR 20 damage cover or a EUR 500 credit-card hold per vehicle; no cash. The Vespa takes 170 kg at most, riders and bags together. If the guides decide you can't ride safely, you continue as a passenger or in the van with no refund. And it runs rain or shine: heavy rain can mean the day happens in the van, also without a refund. Never ridden anything with two wheels? The Fiat 500 tour keeps four.
On the corner of Piazza Mentana, across from the Arno. Morning and afternoon departures.
Out of Florence to the base, where you get a helmet and a briefing.
A few laps on a Piaggio Zip in the yard. Guests say the gravel lot is harder than the road.
Through Strada in Chianti and Chiocchio, a stop in Greve and a viewpoint by a hill church.
Back at base: a three-course meal with wine, then olive oil and a few wines in the tasting room.
Drop-off where you started.
★★★★★It's definitely not a wine tour on vespas, but that's okay because that could be a little dangerous haha. [...] We had 3 leaders for our group - one at the front, one at the rear and one in flex who would make sure all stops, turns, and anything that could be more dangerous was safe for all of us!
★★★★★You start with a 20 min bus ride out of the city and go to a town where you learn to ride the Vespa, it is fairly easy for most people [...] You then get about 2 hours on a Vespa driving through the wineries and hills of Tuscany followed by two winery tours including a delicious lunch and wine tasting.
★★★★★We were nervous about driving the Vespa but they practiced with us until they felt comfortable with each of our skills. [...] But still be cautious since you do ride on the roads with lots of cars here and there.

No. A valid car driving licence is enough, and you must be 18 to drive. Passengers must be at least 13. Bring the licence with you: the guides check it.
Most guests haven't. You do a test ride first, and the lighter Piaggio Zip is an option. If the guides judge you unsafe, you ride as a passenger, on a guide's scooter or in the support van, with no refund.
No. The ride comes first and lunch with wine comes after you've parked. Italy's limit is 0.5 g/l, and zero for drivers who've held a licence under three years.
The tour still runs. The team waits for a dry spell and may start in the van; if the rain doesn't stop, the whole trip happens in the minivan and there's no refund or discount.
